Acer Chromebook C720: Can You Use It in 2019?

I use an Acer Chromebook C720 as my main “on-the-go” machine. But, it is finally hitting a snag. The battery was starting to die out and was starting to unexpectedly shut down the device. I could bring a charger. The problem? Being a student who is in classrooms that don’t have power outlets that are usable by students means that the only way that I can get power into the device is through a teacher’s power outlet, or deal with it and use a school Chromebook. The even bigger problem? Well, I can use those, but they are gross, somewhat broken, and not sanitary. The solution? I don’t know yet. But, before thinking about buying a new device, such as the ASUS C202SA, I might as well spend my last days with it nicely, so let’s write a review and see if it still holds up today.

The Acer Chromebook C720 Review

Display

The display on this cheap, $200 Chromebook, is 1366×768. With ChromeOS, this display looks not that bad. It is also 11.6 inches, so it isn’t that bad. But, this laptop screen can get dirty, and it is difficult to get rid of the gross things.

Software

The Chromebook is surprisingly still updated, but it ends support this month, June 2019. That is unfortunate because it is really running well today. NTG Developer is still creating apps on ChromeOS and this doesn’t run Google Play Store. That is unfortunate because it could open a new world of opportunities.

Sound

The speakers are as normal as they could get. They are clear, but they are on the bottom. This leads to muffled sound and peaking, which is not comfortable to the ears.

FINAL STATEMENT

I really like the Acer Chromebook C720 still, but it is very old and I’m gonna upgrade soon. So, what do you suggest for me? Let me know in the comments and I hope that you enjoyed the article.
