ASUS C202SA: A Good Budget Chromebook For Students?

The Asus C202SA is arguably one of the best Chromebooks for young students that need their first Chromebook. With its rubberized edges, it can withstand a drop of up to 3.9 feet. It isn’t the best machine, rocking an Intel Celeron N3060 Processor, either 2 or 4 GB of RAM, and a 16-32 GB SSD. At the time this was posted, this Chromebook is around $220 for 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is a fairly good price for what you get.

Why Chromebooks don’t have the best hardware

Chromebooks, in general, don’t need amazing specs to run well. Everything is based on the cloud. The notebooks run a very limited Linux experience, HOWEVER, this Chromebook is compatible with Linux apps with Google’s “Crostini” experiment, and it has access to the Google Play Store, giving this Chromebook functionality for photo editing and more! An Intel Celeron is great for lightweight web browsing and email checking, and with everything being in the cloud, you don’t need a lot of storage. Boot time is only 7 seconds with the hardware.

Is the Asus C202SA Chromebook for You?

As long as you aren’t running Half-Life 2 or Call of Duty, a Chromebook has enough power for getting yourself throughout the day.
